Mother’s Day was this past weekend.  If your mom is anything like mine – you were reminded every day leading up to it. I know my mom did. We get it mom, Mother’s Day is 3 weeks away. It’s like the Game of Thrones countdown to Winter, never fails. But that’s why my mom is so lovable because she never wants you to forget about her just like she won’t forget about you!

Mother’s Day shouldn’t be a once a year thing, we should really celebrate our mommas every day especially when they live far away. My parents live in Orlando (I KNOW the Brickellista’s parental units live in Orlando,WTF?!) but that’s where I’m from folks. I grew up saying weird words like “y’all” and used to drive a Dodge Ram pick-up truck.

Yes. Hi. I’m Evelyn and I’m a hillbilly. It’s cool… I keep it real with hood rat music. A balanced life is the key to life.

Since my parents live in a land far far away (Orlando is another country compared to Miami!), you can imagine my delight when they came down for a visit! I cherish every momento with them because having them in my life is muy importante. And for my mom I wanted to give her a special treat for Mother’s Day – a day as a blogger! She’s been my #1 fan since I started Brickellista Files and I thought it would be a fun way to celebrate her day.

We started our day with a hair makeover session at Sean Donaldson in Brickell City Centre then we grabbed our mother-daughter outfits from Lafayette 148. Our girls day continued with a sunset dinner at River Yacht Club where the rose was flowing!

I love Lafayette 148 because they have so many colorful options for the Miami girl. The Nadia bright yellow shirt paired with the colorful floral skirt makes for the perfect brunch/dinner outfit for Mother’s Day!  This skirt screams “let’s twirl like a flamenco dancer!” It’s so fun and girly I knew I needed it right away. The croco shoes are super comfortable and of course I had to let my taco clutch come out to play!

My mom’s look is conservative and fun – not going to lie – I want to steal her blazer! What’s really great about Lafayette 148 new collection is both mom and I could rock it in our own unique way. The Libre Link necklace is such a fun statement piece. I think this look worked perfectly for her because it made her face glow. Or maybe that was the rose! Whoops 😉

Mother’s Day was truly a special day for the both of us because we’ve never done anything like this together! She truly felt like a princess. Make sure you celebrate with your mom every chance you get! And daddy you’re next because our official rose holder / key supporter deserves a day on the blog too. Xo, Ev
